During my trip to Accra, Ghana, I stopped by the world largest market place for all things Made in Africa. The Afrikrea Gifting Villa featured some of the latest fashions available on the mega online market place.

Kente cloth, shea butter, pillows, cowrie shells, wigs, sandals you name itttttt, is available at Afrikrea! Afrikrea is an online market place that features African art, fashion and decor. What started as a simple project to help artisans in Africa by two childhood friends, Moulaye and Kadry, former auditor and project planning engineer who were passionate about entrepreneurship, turned into the world’s leading marketplace for African fashion, bags, accessories, jewelry, and all things Made in Africa.
Co-founder Moulaye Taboure grew up in Mali where craftmanship is dependent on tourism. In an interview with Black Enterprise, he talked about building a platform that helped artisans and gives inspiration to other Africans. “When tourism stopped and people close to us started sharing the despair of the artisans, we wanted to act. Seeing the success of models such as Etsy, we knew the cultural wealth and talent inspired by Africa would develop around the world.” he said.
