In the summer of 2017, I traveled to Thailand. I had no expectations or plans. I just relaxed, ate good food and enjoyed the Rainey season....

Where I Stayed
The Malika Hotel is a gorgeous quaint hotel, With lovely spacious rooms. The hotel staff are extremely nice and pleasant and offer great advice about the must sees in Phuket!! They offer a lovely breakfast and you can book excursions through the front desk if you don't want to haggle on the main area of Bangla Rd. The area of old Phuket Town is very quiet and relaxed. You will be within a bike ride or walk to many restaurants and the 7-11 convenience store. The hotel is extremely cheap and safe for the solo traveler!
The only con: The Malika hotel is too far from the main attractions of Bangla Rd and the beach.
I ABSOLUTELY loved this hotel!!!!!!!!
As a solo traveler, I was skeptical about using airbnb alone in a foreign country, but I truly enjoyed it! The staff of the Sathon were amazing! Very nice and friendly! The cleanliness of the room was great and they cleaned it every time I left! The location is truly a plus! There are restaurants , bars and clubs within a 10min walk. Also, most of the huge malls are less than a 20 min Grab taxi ride away.
THINGS TO KNOW WHEN TRAVELING TO THAILAND....
Its incredibly cheap!!! The dollar goes very far in Thailand. You can have a luxurious stay for the low low!...
Thai massages are EVERYTHING! But are not for the faint heart! You will turn into a pretzel!
Wear sunscreen even if you are melaninated! The salt water combined with the sun had me looking dried, cracked and dusty!...
Liquor is cheap... Drink till your heart and liver are content..
Is it a lady or a man!?!?! Who knows!?!
Thailand's Thai food is different from the states... I didn't like it...
The fresh fruit taste like heaven..
The rain during their "rainy season" wasn't bad at all. It didn't stop me from enjoying my time!
Haggle at the excursion stalls on Bangla Rd, You can get a lot of the excursions for a cheaper price than what is offered on their flyer.
The Grab Taxi app is like Thailand "Uber"
